Biography

George V. Laughrun III (Trey) is a partner at Goodman Carr and recently joined the firm in 2015. He works primarily in the area of Criminal Defense. He represents clients on traffic, misdemeanor and felony cases in Mecklenburg, Gaston, and Union counties.

He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and his law degree from the Charlotte School of Law. He holds licensures to practice law in the state courts of North Carolina and the Federal Court for the Western District of North Carolina.

Prior to joining the firm, Trey was an intern for two summers at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Defenders Office. He was also an intern at Goodman Carr in the summer of 2009. Trey was recognized by North Carolina Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2021 and was named one of Charlotte’s “Legal Elite” in 2022 -2026 by Business North Carolina Magazine.

Personal Information

Trey was born and raised in Charlotte. He is married with three children. In his free time he enjoys playing basketball in the Mecklenburg County bar league, and vacationing at the beaches of South Carolina.
